Fuselage Construction - Part 1

My BF109 3-View

The fuselage sides and formers are but from 1/16" balsa. Draws lines on the fuse sides where the formers will go. Make sure you make a left and right side! 1/16" balsa doublers are glued to the fuse sides. Only F1 and F3 are 1/16" plywood.
Another view of the fuselage sides laid out for assembly with formers F4, F5, F6 and F7. Glue a 1/8" sq. balsa strip along the lower edge of the fuselage side from F4 to F7.
To assemble the fuselage first glue F2, F3 and F4 to one fuselage side making sure they are aligned 90 degrees. Then glue to the other side. Pull the tail together and place formers F5, F6 and F7 in place aligning to the lines drawn previously. Secure with the lower part of the formers to the fuse sides with thin CA. Add the 1/16" ply firewall, F1.
Glue a 1/8" square balsa stringer to the rear formers. Now gently press the top half of the fuselage sides against the top portion of formers F4, F5, F6, and F7 and secure with thin CA.
View of fuselage wing saddle up, laid over the top view of the plan.
Add the 1/8" balsa string to the lower rear part of the fuselage.
The partially completed fuselage is test fit on the wing. It's starting to look like a BF now! Next we will add some balsa blocking and triangular stock to the forward part of the fuselage.
