This aircraft is based on the Speed 400 Python that was originally designed by Mark Rittinger. Mark Rittinger is not affiliated with this version nor does he endorse it.

The following modifications have been made from the original "Python" design.

  • The wing is redesigned with a scale P51 outline
  • A true ClarkY airfoil is used with variable thickness from root to the tip.
  • Horizontal stabilizer is a scale P51 outline
  • Fuselage is widened approximately 1/8"
  • Nose modified for a Mega 16/15/x motor and 1 1/2" dubro spinner
  • Lower air scoop is deeper.

This is an all balsa airplane that builds quickly. This construction sequence is similar to the original Python that is found on Ezone. This example is finished with fiberglass cloth and resin and painted with Model Master™ acrylic paint. 8x1100 nimh battery packs are use and a Castle Creations™ Phoenix 25 controller. Guidance by Hitec radio and servos.

This aircraft is an excellent flyer. It is fast and responsive yet stable at slower speeds. It slows down nicely for landing with the flat-bottom airfoil and built-in washout. If you decide to build this aircraft and power it with a brushless motor you won't be disappointed!
