Fuselage Construction Part 4

Fuselage sheeting begins by aligning the bottom half of the laser cut side panels to the center of the mid fuselage length stringer. Glue the sheeting to the stringer only.
This view shows the first sheeting panel glued only to the stringer. The next step is to wrap/form the sheeting around the formers. To do this use a small sponge soaked in hot water to wet the fuselage side panel so it is easily bends over the curve of the formers. Hold the fuselage assembly in one hand pressing the side sheet against the formers. Start at former F4. Drip thin CA glue into the joint where the fuselage side panels contact the former. The sheet will be glued to the former. Next proceed to former F7 and then aft toward the tail. Work equally on both side till you have the complete panel glued to the formers.
This photo shows the sheeting after it has been glued to the formers. NOTE: You can reinforce the joint at the former and fill any gaps by using baking soda. Sprinkle the baking soda in the joint and then drip some Ca glue to make a strong glue joint.
A view looking down into the fuselage where the wing will fit. You will need to gently sand the sheeting in this area to make a smooth fit with the wing. NOTE:Leave about 1/64" gap between the sheeting and the wing. This will be taken up by a wing fillet later.

Next add the upper laser cut sheeting panel. Align the panel to the centerline of the mid stringer and butt against the lower half sheet. Glue the sheeting only to the stringer. Next use your wet sponge to soak the 1/16" sheeting as you did with the lower piece. Using your hand to press the sheeting to the formers, work your way down the fuselage assembly from F4 to the tail. The aft section is harder to form by with adequate wetting and working equally on both sides you can complete the task.
This show the fuselage with both main sheeting panels glued in place.
Next add the 1/16" balsa fuselage doublers. Wet these small pieces as well and glue to the inside of the fuselage aligning them to the outer edge. Use Slow/thick Ca glue so you have time to adjust.
